Meet Our Provider

“It is important to me that each patient leaves my office feeling confident in their treatment plan, with a clear understanding of what to expect, side effects to look for, and how to reach me directly for guidance and support in between appointments.”

Teana Elmer, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Hello! I’m Teana Elmer, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) dedicated to helping those suffering from Psychiatric disorders find internal peace and healing.

My love of mental health and desire to help people started with a very personal experience involving a close loved one who suffered from severe mental health issues. As I observed the strength it took each day for them to discover Joy and Happiness; I knew that helping those who fight on the loneliest battlefield of the mind would become my lifelong pursuit.

Working as both a pediatric and adult ICU nurse I cared for those in their most vulnerable states and recognized the gaps in care for mental health. This started my journey of obtaining my advanced nursing practice education. I Graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with a Master of Science in Nursing specializing in Psychiatric Mental Health. I am board-certified in Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatric Nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

I completed my academic clinical rotations at:

  • UT Southwestern Outpatient Adult Psychiatry Clinic

  • Cook Children’s Inpatient Child Psychiatric Unit

  • Prime Behavioral Health

With years of experience in nursing, working with both patients and their families, I have gained vital insights into the complexities and individual nature of mental health conditions. I strongly believe in true collaboration with both patients, family members, and other clinical providers to provide the most complete picture of patient values, needs, and concerns. Developing a trusting relationship with my patients is paramount, as I know, that truly understanding what they are experiencing will help us collaborate on developing an individualized treatment plan tailored to their specific needs and goals; including evaluation and diagnosis, medication management, psychotherapy techniques and lifestyle changes such as; diet and exercise.

I recognize your strength and courage in taking the daunting first step of seeking care and feel privileged to walk this journey alongside you.
